Concrete Outdoor Kitchens

A concrete outdoor kitchen typically runs three to five elements: benchtop with the BBQ cut-out cast in, splashback, prep surface, sometimes a wing of concrete around a stainless sink, sometimes a pizza-oven landing. Sinks sit in stainless adjacent to the slab, never cast in. Cast in one matched batch; templated to your alfresco cabinetry; sealed for food prep.

Full outdoor kitchens are typically three to five concrete elements: benchtop with the BBQ grill cut-out cast in, splashback, prep surface, sometimes a wing of concrete around a stainless sink, sometimes a pizza-oven landing. Sinks are stainless, not cast into the concrete: outdoor or indoor, the wet zone goes in another material. Cast in one matched batch from the outdoor-rated composition; templated against your alfresco cabinetry; sealed for direct food contact.

Integrated BBQ Benchtops

The grill cut-out is cast as part of the benchtop. We match the radius corners, hood clearance, and side framework for the specific BBQ model: Beefeater, Weber Summit, Lynx, DCS, Napoleon, and most other built-in grills are common specs. The cut-out is finished and sealed identically to the working top, so the join reads as a clean architectural detail.

Poolside Concrete Dining Tables

Concrete handles poolside better than most outdoor furniture. The outdoor composition resists chlorine splash, salt-air corrosion and full sun without fading or pitting. Under shade it stays cool to the touch. Dark stone and metal do not.

Our most-specified poolside piece is the Palermo Oval. A concrete dining table on a single curved cast pedestal, seating six, in bone white or any of our outdoor pigments. Same composition as the BBQ benchtop, so a matching outdoor entertaining set can be cast in one batch, on the same pigment and finish. For the consolidated view across dining, coffee, side, and settings, see our concrete outdoor tables page.

Cast for sun, salt, and the long Sunday lunch.

Outdoor benchtops use a UV-stable, freeze-thaw-stable variant of our composition with a food-safe seal built for ordinary outdoor and BBQ-adjacent exposure. The composition is silica-free.

Pigment, polish, and edge profile specified at quote. Templated to drawings; cast in our Mordialloc studio; coordinated with your builder's install window.

Common Questions

BBQ benchtops & outdoor kitchens: what people ask.

  • Can a concrete benchtop sit around a built-in BBQ? +

Yes, and it's one of the better materials for the job. Concrete handles direct radiant heat from a closed BBQ hood without issue. We cast the cut-out in place to match the radius and dimensions of your specific grill (Beefeater, Weber Summit, Lynx, DCS, and similar are common). The cut-out is finished and sealed exactly the same as the working top.

  • What makes our concrete suitable for outdoor use? +

The composition is engineered the same way for indoor and outdoor: silica-free GFRC, roughly four times the strength of standard concrete. UV-stable pigments hold their colour in full sun. The composition is freeze-thaw-stable so Australian winters won't crack the cast. The satin food-safe sealer resists red wine for six hours. Whether you cast a kitchen island or an outdoor dining table, you're getting the same studio standard.

  • How is an outdoor kitchen quoted? +

Send the cabinetry drawing, BBQ model, and a brief of the room. Note where the sink sits in the layout: we cast the concrete around it, not integrated into the slab. We respond with a quote within two business days. Most outdoor kitchens involve two or three concrete elements: benchtop, splashback, sometimes a separate prep table, plus shipping; we price these together.

  • What's the lead time? +

Four to six weeks from approved drawings. Outdoor kitchens are coordinated with the builder's program; we deliver to the site at the install window your builder schedules.

  • Will pool chemicals damage the seal? +

Splash exposure is fine. The outdoor seal handles chlorine and salt-water at normal pool concentrations. Direct contact with concentrated chemicals (an open bottle of pool acid sitting on the surface) can mark the seal. Standard care: wipe up spills.

  • Can the BBQ benchtop be matched to an indoor concrete kitchen island? +

Yes. Order both together and we cast in one batch: same pigment, same finish date. The outdoor-rated seal looks slightly more matte than the indoor seal in some lights; otherwise the match is exact. Many clients pair an indoor IronStone island with an outdoor IronStone BBQ benchtop.
