Concrete Bench Seats

Architectural concrete bench seats for outdoor entertaining, garden, and public-space commissions. Each concrete bench seat is cast full-depth in our Mordialloc studio at standard 450 mm width; lengths from 1000 to 2700 mm. Hand-finished, food-safe sealed, made to order, delivered nationally.

Outdoor Concrete Bench Seats

SnapCo casts outdoor concrete bench seats on one studio composition: silica-free, full-depth, UV-stable pigments, freeze-thaw-stable, and a satin food-safe sealer that resists red wine for six hours. Standard width 450 mm, lengths 1000 to 2700 mm. IronStone on galvanised steel is the outdoor default; TimberStone on Tasmanian oak suits sheltered alfresco positions.

An outdoor concrete bench seat handles the elements when made from the right composition. Our outdoor-rated ranges use UV-stable pigments and a freeze-thaw-stable mix, suited to courtyards, alfresco rooms, pool decks, and coastal positions. The same composition we use for outdoor bench seat work runs through every dining and bar piece, so an outdoor setting pairs as one cured family.

The IronStone Concrete Bench Seat sits on a galvanised, powder-coated steel sled-leg base built for full Australian sun, salt air, and four-seasons exposure: our outdoor default. The TimberStone Concrete Bench Seat pairs the same cast top with a Tasmanian oak base, hand-finished by our Daylesford timber team for sheltered outdoor and indoor positions.

Garden Concrete Bench Seats

A concrete garden bench seat sits naturally against planted edges, pathways, and garden walls. The concrete weight keeps the bench stable on lawn and gravel; the TimberStone range pairs the cast top with a Tasmanian oak base, lifting the bench off ground level for drainage.

Public & Architectural Concrete Bench Seats

Public and architectural commissions are quoted against drawings, cast in batches, and delivered installed. Built-in seating walls, courtyard perimeters, entry-statement pieces, and civic forecourts run through the same Mordialloc studio. Curved benches and banquettes route through our commercial seating brief: single-piece casts or modular segments, in GRC or full-depth concrete, sized to transport.

Precast bench seats for architectural fit-outs, public spaces, and commercial seating commissions: built-in seating walls, courtyard perimeters, and entry-statement pieces. Quoted against drawings; cast in batches; delivered installed.

Curved bench seats, banquettes, and hospitality fit-outs sit alongside this range under our commercial seating brief. Single-piece casts or modular segments, hand-cast to drawings.

Dimensions, bases, weights

Standard bench length runs 1000 to 2700 mm, width 450 mm, thickness 80 mm, seat at 450 mm matched to our dining-table height. A 1500 mm bench weighs 90 to 120 kg; a 2400 mm bench weighs 150 to 180 kg. Bases: galvanised steel sled (IronStone) or Tasmanian oak sled (TimberStone). Site-placed at delivery.

Concrete bench seat dimensions

Standard length 1000 to 2700 mm. Standard width 450 mm. Standard thickness 80 mm. Bench-top sits at 450 mm above the ground, the conventional dining-bench seating height matched to our dining range. Custom lengths up to 3600 mm quoted on request. Two-person to three-person seating depending on length and table run.

Concrete bench seat bases

The IronStone bench runs on a galvanised, powder-coated steel sled-leg base in matte black as standard, with custom RAL powder-coat colours available at quote: built for outdoor work, salt air, four-seasons exposure. The TimberStone bench pairs the same cast concrete top with a Tasmanian oak sled-leg base in natural finish, hand-joined by our Daylesford team. Both bases are sized to keep the concrete seat lifted off ground level for drainage and to read visually balanced against the cast top.

Concrete bench seat weight and delivery

A 1500 mm bench weighs around 90 to 120 kg. A 2400 mm bench weighs around 150 to 180 kg. Standard delivery is site-placement at ground level by our two-person crew. First-floor and difficult-access sites are quoted separately; concrete bench seats are heavy and don't move twice, so we site-place where you want them on the day.

05  /  Choosing

Which concrete bench seat is right for your space.

For full outdoor exposure  /  choose the IronStone. The galvanised steel base is the most resilient option for full sun, coastal salt, and four-seasons Australian weather. This is the bench seat that lives outside year-round.

For sheltered alfresco or indoor  /  choose the TimberStone. The Tasmanian oak base reads warmer against the cast top and pairs naturally with timber-heavy interiors, sheltered courtyards, and covered patios. Suited to indoor dining rooms and sunrooms where the oak grain becomes part of the composition.

For a tonal lift  /  choose a bone-white variant. The cast top moves from charcoal to bone, pairing with linen interiors, Mediterranean palettes, and stone-floor rooms. Same base options, same composition, different pigment family.

For a curved bench, banquette run, or architectural commission  /  we route the brief through our commercial seating range. Cast to drawings, single-piece or modular, GRC or full-depth depending on transport.

Featured commission  /  93 Earl Street, Kew

Outdoor concrete bench seats for a multi-residential development in Kew.

The 93 Earl Street project sits in Kew, designed by Cera Stribley and built by D5 Building, the high-end multi-residential specialists. Twenty-four apartments across three levels with a basement, completed 2024. The brief for the communal area asked for outdoor furniture that read as architectural as the buildings: weighty, restrained, and built to wear well across years of resident use.

We produced outdoor concrete bench seats and matched dining tables for the main entertaining and BBQ zones. The benches are full-depth IronStone, cast in our Mordialloc studio from the same silica-free, four-times-strength composition we use across the residential range, sealed for outdoor work, and set on the galvanised steel sled-leg base in matte black. Three runs of bench seating around the communal BBQ area, paired with dining tables sized to the courtyard footprint. The brick-walled garden pathway between the apartments became the thread that tied the communal zones together; the bench seats anchor each entertaining moment along the way.

Multi-residential developments are a good test for our outdoor range. The benches handle daily resident traffic, weekend BBQs, and Australian seasonal swings without re-sealing or re-finishing on the building manager's schedule. For the developer, that's the bench-seat composition holding its part of the asset.

Material  /  The composition

Concrete bench seats: same composition, paired with the dining table.

Every SnapCo concrete bench seat is cast from the same silica-free architectural concrete composition we use across the dining range. Full-depth, never veneered. Roughly four times the compressive strength of standard mix concrete. UV-stable pigments across the studio palette. Freeze-thaw stable for outdoor work, sealed for stain and food contact.

Order the bench and dining table together and we cast both in one batch: same cure date, same pigment lot, same finish hand. The composition the studio has refined since 1991, made within the technical framework maintained by the Australian concrete industry through bodies like the Concrete Institute of Australia.

Standard bench-top width is 450 mm; standard thickness 80 mm; standard finish is honed for soft hand-feel. Pigment chosen from the studio palette at quote; base specified to match the dining piece (galvanised steel for outdoor, Tasmanian oak for sheltered alfresco and indoor).

Common Questions

Concrete bench seats: what people ask.

  • How heavy is a concrete bench seat? +

A 1500 mm IronStone bench at standard 450 mm width weighs around 90 to 120 kg. Larger or heavier-section benches weigh more. We site-place at delivery. Bench seats are heavy and don't move twice.

  • Can concrete bench seats stay outside permanently? +

Yes. Our outdoor-rated ranges use a UV-stable, freeze-thaw-stable composition with a food-safe seal. Indoor ranges can sit on a covered patio but we recommend an outdoor-rated range for full sun, rain, or coastal exposure.

  • Can a bench seat be made to match my dining table? +

Yes. Bench seats can be cast from the same range as the dining table: same composition, same pigment, same finish batch where possible. Order both together for a single cure.

  • What lengths and widths do you cast? +

Standard length runs 1000 to 2700 mm. Standard width is 450 mm. Bench seats are designed for two or three-person seating. Custom widths are quoted on request.

  • Are concrete bench seats comfortable? +

More comfortable than they look. The honed top has a soft hand-feel, and most clients pair the bench with a long cushion or upholstered runner. We don't supply cushions but can recommend Melbourne upholsterers we've worked with.

  • Can SnapCo build a curved concrete bench seat? +

Yes. Curved bench seats and banquettes are commissioned through our commercial seating range, hand-cast to architectural drawings and engineered for either single-piece install or modular segments depending on transport. See our commercial seating range for the full brief.

  • How does a SnapCo concrete bench seat compare to mass-market precast at Bunnings? +

Bunnings sells standard precast garden seats sized for retail price points. A SnapCo concrete bench seat is hand-cast to your length, pigment, and base specification from a silica-free, full-depth, four-times-strength composition the studio has refined since 1991. A different category of piece.
