How Heavy Are Concrete Dining Tables? What Sets the Weight

What determines the weight of a concrete dining table — footprint, top thickness, and base. Plus how to plan delivery, install, and any future move.

Concrete tables are heavy — that's part of the appeal. They sit; they don't shift. But heavy doesn't mean immovable, and a table cast in our composition sits well under what the same piece would weigh in traditional concrete.

What sets the weight

Three things: the footprint, the top thickness, and the base. Our dining tables and bench seats run an 80 mm top. The Laconian pieces are 50 mm, the Milano coffee and Santino bar tops 40 mm. A Tasmanian oak base adds a little over a galvanised steel one.

We don't publish a weight per size, because every piece is made to order and the spec moves with the brief. The exact weight of your table is on the quote before you commit to anything.

What we will say: our composition runs about a third the weight of traditional concrete, because we replace the aggregate and steel with high-performance polymers and glass fibre reinforcement. A 2400 mm table that would want four people and a hand-truck in solid stone is a two-person lift in ours.

Why our pieces are lighter than other concrete furniture

Standard concrete gets its strength from mass: more section, more steel, more weight. Ours gets it from the fibres. Tens of thousands of them run through the cast, giving roughly four times the flexural strength of standard concrete, so the same span holds without the same bulk behind it.

That's the trade every concrete maker faces — mass or material. We'd rather spend the engineering than the kilograms.

Delivery planning

We deliver every piece with site-place in the metro area. The freight vehicle arrives with two of the studio team; we walk the piece into position, level it, and inspect before leaving. There's no extra charge for site-place; it's part of the standard service.

For regional and interstate delivery, we coordinate with specialist heavy-furniture freight. Most pieces ship as a single crated item; the crate handles transit, your local installer or builder uncrates and positions on arrival.

Future moves

Pieces are heavy enough to require professional movers if you're moving house. Two strong adults can position a 2400 mm piece in a single-storey home if the doorways and corridors allow; anything larger or any stairs wants four people. Most professional removalists are familiar with concrete furniture and quote it appropriately.

For complete peace of mind on a move, we offer a studio-coordinated relocation service in the Melbourne metro area — we collect, transit, and reposition the piece in the new home. Quoted per move.
